Tips for CV Success in 2017




1. Be creative

Experiment with the format of your CV and try to add your personal flair to the layout. In recent years, candidates have even gone digital in the form of video CVs and games, but this is usually only worth it if you’re in a creative industry.

2. Be careful

If you choose a more creative format for your CV, don’t let it be detrimental — don’t choose anything too distracting or difficult to read from.

3. Proofread

Ensure you triple check your Resume/CV; you do not want avoidable errors to hinder your chances before you’re even through the door. Please have a professional check it for you too.

4. Don’t make it too long

Your CV should be around two or four A4 pages long. Recruiters now a days hardly have the time to read five pages CV, no matter how talented you are. This is because of the large number of applications they recieve. So keep it simple and avoid too much of unnecessary explainations

5. Tailor each CV

Every CV you send out should be tailored to the role you’re applying for. Choose relevant examples and skills to demonstrate why you’re the best person for the job.

6. Keep it up-to-date

Update your CV whenever you acquire a new skill or qualification. Remember that your career goals may change over time and that your CV should reflect this. With the New Year just around the corner, now is the perfect time to get your CV up to scratch for 2017.

 7. Sending your CV online

In today’s digital world, it’s likely that you’ll be sending your CV via email or through a job board like CV-Library. Save your CV with the .PDF file extension to ensure that recruiters can open it on any device. A PDF will also maintain formatting, so you can be sure that employers are seeing your CV as you intended.

8. Study other professional CVs
Every industry or Job Application has a particular style or format they want the CV to look like or appear. So ensure to study other professional CVs in order to get more experience on how to better your CV and make it better and attractive to your employer.
